I graduated from Davis Senior High School in June, 2019. I took a gap year before going to college and traveled to Brazil and Peru, where I volunteered with reforestation efforts, an organic farm, and spent a month on a research station in the Amazon rain forest.
I started college at the University of California, Santa Barbara in the summer of 2020, doing a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies, with minors in Music and American Indian and Indigenous Studies. In 2021 I joined the Moeller Lab at UCSB and took on an independent research project about the relationship between Valley Oak Trees (Quercus lobata) and ectomycorrhizal fungi under drought stress.
Later that year I moved into Manley House, a house that is part of the Santa Barbara Student Housing Cooperative. I was an active member in efforts to maintain the house, garden, and structure of the organization.
In January to September 2023, I studied abroad at the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand. I focused my studies on Māori language and culture.
In June 2024, I graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara, with a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies and a minor in American Indian and Indigenous Studies. I moved to New Zealand for a working holiday year in August 2024, and have since transitioned to a partner work visa.
I spent a total of 8 months working for Te Hapū o Ngāti Wheke at Rāpaki planting native trees, trapping pests, and controlling weeds.
From November 2025 to March 2026, Travis and I are traveling to Europe and the US to do some skiing, sightseeing, and visit friends and family. In April we will come back to Christchurch and I will find a job, hopefully in the direction of Environmental Policy.
